Post by: scud on 11 Oct 2003, 23:19:56
Is there anyway to stop the tide or reduce tidal effect when building islands?

Try to set the latitude to -90 (North Pole) in the config, but this will also affect the daytime...

the best thing to do to cope with tides is just to use steep beaches, possible even fjord-like shores :P

Na, steep beaches look crap
You get out of boat and next thing you are 30 ft up the bank.

Well, you don't have to make them that big, try rolling sand dunes or dutch sea-walls, - the tide only moves 5m or so.

6m above sea level is your safety limit. Anything below that will at some point during the year be underwater.
