I think around 40, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out yourself. Test.

How yous going,
The grids are about 100 meters squared. :)
I used the Mileage Claculator when it first came out to test the size of the grids, the Milage Calculator was made by pablom123 and you can get here at Ofpec http://www.ofpec.com/editors/browse.php?browsewhat=2&start=125
You can then measure the distance of everything you want, whatever that may be. :)

128m comes to mind but I'm mot sure why.   Anyway you can easily find out ... put an object at each side of a square and use the format, hint and distance commands to get the exact distance they are apart.   If you're not familiar with any of these commands check the online command ref in the Ed Depot.

Or place a trigger, and toggle its radius until it just covers the map grid.

JUST TO CLEAR THIS UP FOR YOU PEOPLE

Half Small Square  = 64
Small Square         = 128
Large Square        = 1,280
Entire Map             = 12,800

I think the squares are different sized for each island, cause they all use the same number of squares, but the islands themselfs are different sizes (like Nogova)

The islands are indeed different sizes, but the whole maps - including the sea - are the same size.

The units are metres.    One small square on the map is 128metres on the ground.   So the whole map is 12.8 km across.
