Title: multiplayer custom phrases
Post by: Davies1 on 09 Sep 2002, 02:00:02
Hi I have some sound clips of quotes from films.

I have seen people use custom sounds during a multiplayer game (rather like custom decals/tags like counterstrike) and would like to know how to do this.

I believe that I may have to convert them to an ogg file and there are other tutorials on how to do this, but once done how do I implement it into the game to use.

Do I need to bind a key to play the sound using scripts? If so, how? and will it work for any map? or do I have to add the file(s) to each folder?

Any help would be appreciated, but the whole hog would be even better :D

hanks in advance

Ok first of all u need to have a decent connection since everyone dl ur sounds before u join into the game, Second i use this alot not sound clips from films but to use in a clan fight for quick chats, as in, GoGoGo, or Cover me! etc,

Ok now to explain how to do it. First of all convert the music you want to OGG or any other sound format ofp works with i think its .wss then in ur user folder, where ur user information is create a folder called sound, them put all the sounds in there, try not have them to large cause it takes ages for everyone to dl them.

To activate them in game, u use the radio. Press 0 to get up the menu then Custom 9, then simpley pick what one u want by the name of the sound file. The name of the sound file is also the text that shows in game.

Hope that helps

Its ogg files that work.  Make them with the smallest quality, i.e. smallest file size.  And put them in a >unsername>davies1>sound folder.  They will appear on your radio under "Custom".  The filename of the ogg being the text that appears on the radio.
