Title: Gen II, III nightvision

I'm surprised it hasn't come up before, although I am sure I could have done a pretty extensive search, but it would be REALLY nice to see some new nightvision views out there - the GEN I stuff is really old by the games and by mod standards.

I'd also would really like to see some THERMAL mounts on perhaps M1A1's, HELO's, etc. - games of ages past like GUNSHIP 2000 used to have more than one sort of 'light amplification device', basically the weapon mounted optics that are issued in today's world.

I'm sure it's pretty complicated, but I wonder just how far you can go on the detail/coloring when you look thru the Flashpoint NVG's. Is the coding for it all in the game or is it part of some unit parameter?

I think the NVGs are hard-coded, so I don't think it can be edited. I'm pretty sure it's just a green overlay anyway, since it doesn't actually make it easier to see at night. Maybe in OFP2 we'll be able to mess with them and get modern ones ingame.

Yeah that's the impression I get after searching a few many forums. I guess seeing things like Splinter Cell/Ghost Recon aspire you to want to make upgrades/changes to Flashpoint's GEN I NVG's.

well heck in my experience with NVGs the game ones work better a lot especially when you use them in storms since when i used them in storms all i saw was a green tinted nothing periodically blinded by lightning

though the FLIR or other thermal devices would be neat to see

I'd love to see thermal imaging cameras, but I guess that'll have to wait for OFP2. I don't mean the multi-coloured ones either, just the ones that show black, white and the shades of grey between. They'd be very handy in MP for rooting that sniper who's been stalking you all game  ;D

on second thought lets not do thermal imaging....cuz IM usually that sniper
