Title: How to fire mortars ??
Post by: OFP-SpecOps on 13 Jul 2003, 22:42:12
I can't get the Mortars in the SEB Nam 2 pack to fire on infantry. Does anyone have any suggestions?

 ;D Honk-honk!

Well, dude, just a blind shot here (haven't tried that weapon, sorry).  :P :) See, I think that your tweaked mortar MIGHT be too strong?! That is, if the "CfgAmmo" -part of the config in that addon shows a mortar with a higher damage ( > "hit" points) and if the "cost" of the weapon is high, then the soldier using that weapon prolly won't waste such an expensive/strong mortar on just a single unit - and so, he saves his mortars!

Just a guess... dunno m8.

Off course, you COULD try & ask the author.  :) He might knowsabout it?!

I have never had this problem. The last time I put a mortar in a mission, it decimated the enemy units attacking the base and I may even take it out! As for your problem, I would only guess that the enemy may be approaching from outside the mortar's arc of fire. I think that it is a full 180 degrees centered from the front of the sandbags. In fact, I think the SEB mortar has three pegs on top of the sandbags so you can determine the mortar's field of fire.

Hope that this helps.

My experience with the mortars in the invasion44 mod is that the crew has to have a direct line of sight on the target. If there are trees or any other objects or elevation changes then the AI might not be able to target. Also up their skill level to max.
