Title: Board Slowdown
Post by: Zombie on 05 Jul 2003, 15:31:47
The forums seem to be very slow this morning, not sure why, but I have a concept for consideration....
There are more than 7K topics in the forums, and more than 10K posts, the basic forum alone has the most.  I don't know if that causes slowdowns or not.  In my office we use a system like this:
Active board   all stuff within the last 30 days
Standing board   All stuff still relevent after 30 days
Dead file    everything else taken from Active board

Could a similar concept help here?  Make like an archive section where the majority of posts go after a certain time period.  I don't know if this would help, or even be possible, but I thought if nothing else it might get some folks to thinking.  This is by no means a bash either, I think this board is the best on the net, just trying to do my part to make it even better!

I think the idea was to collect material from the forums to the FAQ so Zombies idea isn't that bad. But only if ofcourse, the staff do their job  ;) Still, it works like lubricated whore for me so I deny I ever agreed  :-X
