Yeah, I agree, as cool as the 'Nam pack is, it would be silly to require it when all you want to use is the Huey.

By the way, ofp.info updates very often, so I would not be surprised if I saw it up in a couple hours.  There was a recent update saying OFPEC was back up.  (Which by the way may have been the shortest news post they have had in a while--I guess www.ofpec.com speaks for itself.)

Wow its great  :D. Only got dissapointed about one thing  :(.  From you earlier posts about the hueys it sounded like you where having gunners on both sides even though only one of them can shot. So just for looks. But there isnt one. Tried filling up the huey and people cant sit on that spot. So here's a little request. hmmm better make that two in one request :).

Make it possible to have people sitting on the co-pilot seat and on the secondary seat. Even though they dont have a function it looks better. Meaning that when you select chopper from the editor menu it will have a four man crew.

Hope this can be done.

Keep up the great work

The propellor sound is slightly loud, but it does not sound wierd for me.

Also some comments:
- It is great, as I said before. ;D
- As Dkraver said, would it be possible to have perhaps a Commander in the second seat in the cockpit of the chopper?
- Could you possibly make a Resistance version with the FIA logo and maybe a different camo?  This actually is not necessary; the chopper has no markings so it looks fine if it is used by the Resistance in a mission.
- When people disembark, if you watch from directly in front or behind the chopper, they appear to be jumping out of thin air a foot or two away from the side of the chopper.  That is very minor, though.
- It is great.  ;D

Select This, the sound of the Huey I have to admit, fairly sounds "cheap", just doesn't sound right when I was flying in it earlier on. I have much better modified Huey Helicopter Sound that goes excellent with all Huey helicopters (especially the ones I'm using as of right now use the modified Huey sound which I converted into). If you PM me and I'll be more then happy to sent you the Huey wav, which you could test to see if it fits your taste or if you like I could send you the modified version of your Huey with just the modified Huey wav clip I've installed over the original one you included with the Addon.

STT, I agree with ollie.  You absolutely nailed everything but the sound.  I love having a Huey that doesn't turn into a Black Hawk at long range.  Great stuff, especially with the M60s in the doors.

I seriously think, and I know I've told you this before, that Martin's Huey sounds are far better than the one you shipped with the original Nam pack (and this one is pretty close to the one you used before).  It does sound cheap and grainy.  I remember that you justified it last time as being "more realistic", but I live about 10 miles from a National Guard base, and they fly Hueys.  I can personally say, as they've been flying over my head for almost 2 decades, that Martin's sounds are much, much closer to RL Hueys.

So do you think you could just use Martin's sound?  If you did that, this would be the best Huey, ever (at least until you release the rest of yours).

i have to agree with aeon it's the best huey i've ever downloaded not to look down on others work witch was great plus it's very realistic "i got shot down wile flying over some enemy troops but not because my armor was down but because my pilot got killed by machinegun fire pretty spooky huh?" so great job can't wait for the rest of the pack :P ;D

Indeed. Awesome detail and sounds. Like suggested above, co-pilot seat should be in use by default.

Only "bug" I found is that there is no white light flash for searchlight :P.

Very nice... But is it me, or is the M60 firing sound VERY low?

Do you want to offend SEB!?! ;D
The BIS stuff is low detailed and even wrong in some cases so this one is absolutely perfect (except that I dislike the sound).

There is a white searchlight but it works only if you're in a height above 10 meters or so.
Maybe SelectThis can take a short look and fix this.

re: copilot.
I decided not to include a copilot for a couple of reasons. 1) They would act as the commander, so if you were the pilot it would be hard to give instructions to the gunner. 2) Since they serve no real functional purpose (ie, if they could have taken the controls if the pilot was hit ..in which case I would have included them) they are just more polys for the game to animate.

re: sounds, always going to be a matter of personal taste and also dependant on your sound system, I use headphones to test sounds and it sounds very different to the tinny little speakers on the computer. But I will keep looking for better sounds for the Nam Pack 2 hueys (and maybe update the spec op one ;))

re: lights
they aim slightly down, so they wont show unless you are a bit above ground (like 3 meters). one problem with the OFP engine is that is doesnt treat light sources very well.

Keep the comments flowing, any improvements will help with the hueys in the Nam Pack!

As I said before, the sound isn't just not that what I wanted. It's really wierd. The huey makes strange noises all the time while flying. Like something was scratching on a rough surface. But every other sound in the game is ok. And I use a very expensive sound system. So I have high quality speakers.

No, the sound isn't right!

I also got a good stereo system and put the base to max and it didn't sounds as good as MTY's Huey sound.
Also Headphones don't make it better!

Let me tell you that I've a airbase near my home place and a UH-1D (or even H) sounds more bassy!

But place your soldier somewhere and let SEB's Huey fly across and do it with one of MTY's and choose yourself...I definitly prefere the last sound! Also MTY's radio sounds are realy great (but not for a Spec Ops chopper...).

well i love inserting a team at the dead of night then when the team is on the ground the ruskies open up with all they got and with the M60 going for it it was amazing, 1 complaint is the middle control pannel inbetween the seats, it just dont fit with that orange tint.

Not really a complaint just a support to a suggestion.

THE HUEY MODEL IS PERFECT  !!!!!  VERY NICE WORK !!!

I do agree with the MTY sounds being more fitting, I live close to McDIll air force base in FL and the do run hueys along the gulf beach, and they sound almost identical to the MTY huey sounds, If it would be possible to make an update that gave the option of the original sounds and maybe the MTY sounds with radio chatter, would be very welcome

Several people have mentioned that they'd like the addition of radio chatter like in Martin's UH-1. I thought it was a nice touch with his addon, but after flying around for a while, it can become a bit annoying hearing the same messages over and over again. Not to mention that everyone on the ground can hear it for miles away..

I like the current sound, it's fine. The MTY Huey sound was way too annoying with the radio chatter, and the radio was ridiculously loud, like it was broadcast from the chopper with a loudspeaker or something.

I can't agree with ST about the commander. ST is basically saying that the commanders are useless, so why have them in tanks? APC? etc. The commander would be able to survey the battlefield unhindered and the pilot could get on with flying' the chopper. Also if the pilot died it could be scripted that the commander moved into the pilot position so he could take over flying. I think a commander is a great idea. The extra gunner however really does serve no purpose and would probably have to be added as cargo.

commanders in choppers dont work very well at all, they cant tell the pilot what to do as he cant give him directions, the pilot doesnt understand 'fast/slow/reverse' and just spins around, it would only be useful for mp

Would it be possible to have the option "move in commander" for MP, but not have a crew member when the heli is placed in the editor.

Okay two things on the sound:

1.  Not all of Martin's choppers have the radio sound.  If I remember right his Medevac Huey does not have overlaid radio chatter.

2.  I'm a happy camper now because over in the addons and mods board of the official forums, someone posted Martin's Huey sound, sans radio, named so that you can switch it into the UH1H.  I depbo'd the file, took out the engine sound, and put in the new one with the same name, then pbo'd it up again.  The chopper is absolutely perfecto now.  I don't ever use the landing lights so I don't really care ;D

Well spotted Duff!! ;)

It's the sounds taken from the FS2002 Bell UH-1H Huey By Jordan Moore.

The sounds included were created by Manuel Gonzalez, who in turn took those high quality recordings from a real-life Bell 212 (Civilian Designation for one of the UH-1 Huey series).

The sounds are 100% Freeware, but the readme file states that if anyone wants to use them in an addon and re-distribute it 'etc', due credit should be given to the author, or at least include his name in the readme file, lol ;)

But I have to agree with you Duff, they're pretty d@mn good and I've used them myself for the Special Forces UH-1H. ;)
Title: Re:SEB Special Forces UH-1H released.
Post by: SelectThis on 14 Sep 2002, 05:46:30
Just tried that sound, not bad at all.

The only issue would be that the 212 had two engines so the turbine sound might be different from a single engine huey. It still used the 2 rotor system so that part fits in quite well...

Overall ...I like this sound :) Thanks Capt Robertson!

And I will put a note crediting Manuel Gonzalez in the readme files if I decide to use it.

Ollie,

Still undecided what sounds to use for the Hueys, basically collecting various sounds and will test them fully once I get a chance. I may run a poll with the best clips to see what people think.

Armur,
The hueys for the nam pack are basically finished (model wise) we have a UH1D, UH1C ARA and a UH1C Gunship. But thanks for your offer.

Due to a harddrive failure on one of our main designers, we've lost a bit of stuff so there might be some further delay for the release of Nam Pack 2. So still no definite date.

It's a simple task in the mission editor to use an "empty" huey and crew it up with whatever you like via the moveIn(position) command. :)

What would be nice to see would be a co-pilot (commander position maybe?).  Don't know, haven't messed with coding planes or helicopter much.
