There's even a tutorial here at OFPEC (http://www.ofpec.com/ed_depot/index.php?action=details&id=593&game=ArmA) by kalasnikov471.
You need to ensure that the texture has 4 colour channels: Red, Green, Blue and Alpha. It's the Alpha channel that determines the opacity/transparency.

Aha, I saw on net something similar story with AlphaChannel, but Kalasnikov tutorial is better :)
Thanks

[late reply coming in]
Hi, just saw the topic now and don't know if you already solved it. The way I do it is to use Gimp (a freeware program) to create a simple texture (for glass I'd go with 64x64 or something like that) and use the toolbar to add the alpha channel. Then I use the Eraser tool to make it half-transparent - the last thing to do is to save it as filename.tga and convert it to .pac or .paa with texView (also available on OFPEC). I hope that helps.

Yeah you are late :P I know everything about it now.
btw. Its easier to save it as .paa directly from Photoshop, I reccomend you .pac .paa plug-in for CS5.

Ah, that's interesting... I didn't know about the plugins. I'll take a look for some for Gimp now.
