You wrote: "speed problems solved...." But I had no speed problems with OFPEC until now.
This new OFPEC is extremly slow now. (From Europe...)

hmmm... all reports so far have said the exact opposite. is anyone else experiencing a slow delivery of the site? if so, post here with your location.

it's running pretty fast here in sunny scotland, about 10-15 times faster than before yesterday.

From Finland the load times are less than a second per click. Like a greased lightning.

If you're (still) experiencing slow load times, try clearing / refreshing your browser cache.

From the Netherlands.

The "Home" - "Ed. Depot" - "FAQ" and "COMREF" load really fast. The forum pages take about 5 seconds which feels pretty long and it's a longer load time than before (the previous host).

My conclusion would be that there's something wrong with the forum (code).

Artak: I did it, but still slow...

Cheetah: Yeah, same. I tried the other menu ant that was fast, but forum is slow. Same as your side...

I had nothing against the old design but the new light design sure is an improvement. Lighter, brighter and a whole lot easier on the eyes.

Status Report from Austria (next to Hungary):

Access to a subforum (e.g. Missions:Beta Testing, Announcements etc.) is slow, between 5-8 seconds. However, navigating the threads within a subforum is fast (about 2 seconds).

Cheers

Looks like we get a bit mixed emotions about the speed issues.. It would really help to get more and specific reports, maybe in the form of:

Location
Browser
Internet connection speed and type
Part of the site - load time
(Another part of the site - load time)

May I also suggest that when you first do the report above, you then LOG OUT and try again. Then LOG IN from the frontpage and try again. Then add these tests to your report too - that would reeeally help.

It all sounds a bit like a possible routing problem somewhere along the way, but then again doesn't. Also sounds a bit like SQL config problem.. but then again doesn't. So, the more and more specific reports we get the more they help and the faster we can make OFPEC.. umm.. faster. :)

Thanks for your help guys.

I guess we don't live in the same Finland  :D

Finland
Firefox 2.xxx / IE 5.xxxx
1/512 ADSL
Accessing site after browser is started = 10 to 15 secs
Opening the COMREF, FAQ or Editors depot = instant
Opening the Forum = about 8 seconds
Opening a new thread (not creating one..) = about 8 secs
Opening a thread with new posts in it = about 8 secs
Re-visiting a thread just read = about 3 secs
Pushing the reply button to get the window up to make this reply = about 8 secs...

Clearing cache doesn't help.

Well what worries me is that when you're logged out the forum usage is very slow, but when you log in again it's as fast as it can get. However, this rule doesn't seem apply for all of us and that's why I asked for you to clear your cache.

The problem may be in the Mambo-SMF bridge that handles logins.

Keep the reports coming and also include your experiences with the logout / login experiments. :)

I'm in New York city with Cable internet connection using Microsoft Explorer. The forums are slow loading but COMREF is fine.

Maybe add back the paypal link to allow OFPEC users to make donations too?   :)

Browser - Firefox 2.0.0.3
Internet Speed - 4mbps
Before 'Speed Change' - 10 seconds to load anything on OFPEC domain, another 5-10 for the whole page to finish loading
After 'Speed Change':
- OFPEC pages - Instant to 1 second (COMREF, ed depot etc)
- Forum - 3-5 seconds to load.

Overall - The site has greatly sped up when it comes to loading. The forums do tend to take a little while longer.
Maybe if a lot of people are using the forums then the forum will be slower, so that might explain some slowness for others.
