Title: Winter Nogova
Post by: m21man on 02 Oct 2003, 21:49:46
Has anybody started work on a Winter Nogova map? It'd very cool, and definitely worth making.

On a side note: I understand that BIS doesn't want Nogova in any form falling into the grimy little paws of non-resistance users, so this map would have to rely on the stuff BIS added in 1.75 (Buildings, maybe?).

I'd like this.  It's a good island to begin with, and would be nice it it was done well.  If it was just half-done and used rouge textures, it would be bad.  The problem lies in the fact that there are no official addons in winter camo, so everything would have to be user made.  There are litteraly no high-quality special operations units in winter camo that I know of.  Download Winter Ne.....(cant remember the name [resistance version of winter kovejov{darn island names}]).

It's Winter Nogojev by Kegetys. It's Kolgujev with Nogova textures, and it comes with a bunch of winter units and vehicles.

Yes, that darn word, it's hard to remember how to spell it.

he didn't say nogjev, he said nogova, a winter nogova would be very cool (for arctic units u could just use kegetys').  and yes, those cheap cwc bastards need to upgrade, there r never enough people on game spy

SickSidewinder, I think he was talking about the units in the Winter Nogojev pack being used in the Winter Nogova map.

And while I never have even seen an OFP multiplayer game due to my 56k ( :'( :'( :'( ) , I would definitely agree with calling CWC players "cheap bastards". I mean, what does Resistance cost nowadays? I purchased my copy for $15 at a store that usually overcharges ;D . ? It's an amazing expansion on one nice, little disc. And to ramble on about discs, do you still need to use your disc to start Resistance? For whatever reason, my computer became possessed after the 1.92 Beta (I think it was this one that did it ::) ) , and it no longer requires the disc to play Resistance  ;D ;) :D :P 8) :o .

Yes, thats what I meant, along with the textures if you could get permission to use them.  The SwissMOD is making winter versions of all their vehicles, so those could also be used.

P.S.-Really, I'll have to check the no-disc thing.

yeah the no disc thing works

GRR after scouring the UK for a resistance CD so i could play it (and having to buy the GOTY version) BIS release a patch that you dont need a disc, typical of my luck lol

 I'm sure it will be fixed when the final 1.92 is released guys... ;)

it has to do with the fact that it doesn't over write your existing .exe file but when the final  is released I'm sure it will replace your 1.91 .exe file

You can't modify Nogova. I've tried myself but because it's a different version WRP won't load it even if you change the cpp file.

So Kaliyuga, how would you convert Nogova to a winter version? Or should we go beg Kegetys to make it?

 I'm finishing up my first island and starting my second already.. and making addons to boot.. so I wouldn't have the time to do something like that..

  but if someone were to express a very serious interest about making a winter version I think a editable version of the island could be made fairly easily ;)

 of course winter versions of all the resistance objects are another matter entirely..

Ask kegety's to use his winter nogojev objects. There is quite a good number of res objects in winter scheme, house, building, trees, etc.

Un-pbo Winter nogojev, you'll see the structure is almost exactly like O.pbo.

Here there is a Winter Pack.
The creator used different Addons, but including a Winter Nogova.

Check this: "[StoV] Winter Pack Released"
here:
          http://ofp.gamezone.cz/

The Pack is bigger than 60 Mb, got it?  ;D

I'm pretty sure that is winter Nogojev, which is kolgjev with some nogova buildings in winter camo. I dont think a winter version of nogova is in there.

I've found 1 problem & it's the fact wrpedit can't handle new textures so I can't do it
(Sorry :'().

Of course WrpEdit can handle new textures, mind you it depends what you mean by new textures.

Why did you dig up this old thread anyway?

Well it doesn't work with me (I use tex_view 1.1)?.
 ??? ??? ???.

Land textures need to be square.

i.e. 256 X 256......128 X 128.......etc.

And their dimensions MUST be in ^2, so 200 X 200 won't work because 200 is not a power of 2.

200 is not a power of 2.

2 x 100 = 200  ::)

basic ofp sizes:

64
128
256
512
1024
2048

thos can then by 'x' by any others on the list, BUT dont make too large a difference, as this will cause dedicated server crashes

No no Messiah.......200 is not a power of 2.

Powers of 2 are:

2 =  2^1
4 =  2^2
8 =  2^3
16 =  2^4
32 =  2^5
64 =  2^6
128 =  2^7
256 =  2^8
512 =  2^9
1024 =  2^10
2048 =  2^11
4096 =  2^12
etc
etc

Basically, you start with 2 and multiply it by 2 to get the next power of 2......etc etc.

200 can be divided by 2, but is not a power of 2.
