Just renewing my request for an embassy addon.
With barbed/razor wire along a concrete wall,
a sandbagged guard post at the main gates,
a rooftop helipad,
and a flagpole.
Maybe Agent Smith can make it.
Anyone know his e-mail?

Excellent! Excellent!!! Now my marines, middle-east militia, and rioters (Gimbal's Tossers) have something to play with.
But to make things easier we don't need the builiding to be enterable. Just a working roof top, and an animated entrance checkpoint-gate.

Not sure who the question is for, but I've been asking for and embassy/consulate addon for just what you're suggesting.
Though I never make campaigns, just fool around with missions. :)

Experimenting with the building in the above pic. Now have several fllors and roof top parapets. The problem I am having is the OFP limitation in the geometry lod- only 128 objects... But will work around that.

Beutiful!!!!!!!!!!! But how about a flat roof, with a ladder going down inside so you could do roof insertions? Would that be possible?

Just so happens this is designed for multiplay. Has a heliport, accessible roof top and parapets, and you can climb up the sloped roof. Also has rear garaging for several vehicles, and will have opening doors. At the moment it takes up just one model on a 60 by 60 square meter flat space.. Any island makers want to plan for this please let meknow.

This is has been a work in progress for a while hasnt it..? Anyway goodluck on bringing it to fruition..wondering if a desert style is in the mix..im sure i could find someone to retexture it..
And in multiple parts is OK..like agent smith and his powerplant..but i hope it would be useable in WRPedit..

Not sure how it will go in Wrpedit. However it is designed so that the center of the main model corresponds with the other parts. Placing the consulate in the editor is a breeze: All the parts are added using the group editor. As long as the position and direction is the same for each part placing them in Wrpedit should work too.
Placing them indiviidually in the editor, well that is another story.

If you have that Gazelle, Buddy I'd be most surprised :). Its a work in progress, along with about 150 other ones :)
Pilot of the Gazelle is based on the CoC Swimmer and uses the rebreather apparatus until I create a life jacket and a surface swimming vehicle.

Hey klink... just wondering.... can you make a Marine soldier model in the brown dress uniform with blue trousers and blood stripes?.. with ribbons and nametag and such.... along with his combonation cover...... with a black band with eagle globe and anchor...... it would go great with the embassy.... kinda add that feeling as though you're at the real thing....

Yep. that style of uniform is planned (thnx for the piccy).
I have begun the basic modelling of the extra vehicles which now includes two choppers, a large diplomatic passenger and the other for the Secret Service. Several consulate cars are planned along with service vehicles such as trucks and vans.

This and the like are what the communiy needs. We have the deltas, swimmers and tangos and need 'toys' like this to play with. The Col comes through once more, fantastic. Really looking forward to this big time.

I dont mean to sound impatient but...
where's that embassy? I think Klink makes the best addons!
I'm working on a terrorist mission (where you are the terrrorist, complete with hostage situation) and that phat lincoln is awesome! The embassy opens the doors for many more oppurtunities, and I am thinking of making my own "island" in wrpedit, once I have the time and patience... the island you escape to in my campaign, currently titled "Petty Thief to Crime Lord" in which the first mission leads you and your partner into a park to sniper a cop who has been giving the dude who hired you some trouble. I need to elaborate the storyline, but my new mission is you proceeding to get more work, until ultimately you have a big job, ganking the president of a corporation and holding him hostage.
It is kinda processor-heavy due to the amount of civs, but whatever, I think it's great to play.
btw, does anyone know the command for turning someone's sides mid-mission?
like if I wanted my guy to be civilian until he has committed a murder, then switching over to "east" so that the army would hate him, how would I do that?

I think the white looks great, although obviously it needs a little shading here & there, it is still a wicked chopper.

Hey Goth, what I did was put down a civilian (make it the player) then go in the mission file (C/Program Files/Codemasters/Operation Flashpoint/Users/User Name/Missions/Mission Name) and change the civilian (you) to side "WEST" from "CIV" (or whatever it is). The use "this setcaptive "true". Set a trigger, so when that special someone is dead, setcaptive turns to false.

Just thought about 1 thing that pisses me off about OFP: there's no mac version, or my girlfriend doesn't have a PC... she has a mac and when I come over (often for days at a time) I'm OFPless!!!!

Progress Report:
Most of the modelling side is completed. Now comes the complex job of texturing. Still having some collision problems with some of the walls and AI. Model is now separated into several easy to place peices to allow for the enlarged walking area, and to overcome the geometry lod object limitation.

i love to see that embassy addon with a british flag............. suddenly a million afgans want to raid it when suddenly a few Westland commandos or merlins swoop in to airlift the staff :-X (swift hold the excitment in).

Beutiful idea swift, but one idea. You could make a flag but make it possible to easily and quickly change the texture, so we could make missions like swift described, or commandos raiding a foreign embassy, or any number of things, so we won't be limited by the Union Jack. :)

1) Firstly I just hope the insides will be nice and spacious, since I felt most of the Houses/Buildings in OPF were small, cramped and had a wierd unatural feel when you entered it. But hey - even if its like all the other buildings (any1 have any clipping issues, or is it just me?), itd still be a great prop.
2) Cant wait to hang a nice big pic of Saddam Hussein on my one! :D Or the Korean Dictator Kim DOng something or other, or Stalin, or even ..... George Bush :D

Well instead of the player/mission maker having to change each of several textures (portraits, door signs, flags), how about just a single argument script/function.
For example:
EmbassyTextures(country_name)
So if the argument is "France", then all the portraits are of Chirac; all door signs are in French, and flag is the blue/white/red.
Similar for function arguments like, UK, USA, Russia,etc.

We're not talking about every single country on the planet.
Besides the flag textures need not be part of the actual addon. The user can include a flag.jpg in his mission file.
Just a thought.

Those kinds of vehicles all ready exist as addons.
You'd just have to upgrade the damage resistance values on those addons.

I made a method of making complicated geometry. Even though I cant make configs (dont understand how), I mess around in o2. Ok, If there are walls and a floor, you can use 1 box segmented into several pieces. Pull the segments that are the floor down and flat, and the walls straight up. In theory, Using a 10seg.*10seg*10seg box, you can model several complexly arranged rooms and floors

Only update: texturing on the way. Optimizing the addon so it can be placed in Visitor made Islands, which at the moment is complicated with several opbjects to create the one buliding.

the only way this addon is going to pay off is if you can get a nice piece of land underneath it that makes the embassy flat no matter what its sitting on. in other words, a hill.

True. But it was initially planned to be used on custom islands. There fore a nice flat area would be set aside for it.
It has been tested on the desert island, and a custom island I am building.

Well I would but i'm such a newbie at island making that I would be embarrassed.
Also just about all my addon making is on hold while I battle an illness. But will keep you posted if I do any more to the embassy.

Because of continued illness and the need to resolve other real life issues (such as making a living) I am retiring from public addon making. This addon and all others will be taken over by my new employer (yes I got a job). Whether or not they continue making them or what I have no idea as they are a commercial company and the guys play OFP in their spare time.
I do apologise to all, but circumstances over the past few months has meant that I need to concentrate on life and family above my time-consuming hobby.

Just a little clarification it is not really Secret Service that protects the Ambassadors(Albeit it is the US Marines who protect the embassy grounds) and other foreign dignataries when they come to the US, but rather DSS or Diplomatic Security Service which falls under the control of the US State Dept. Also when I heard someone mention Yukon and such for the diplomatic vehicles I couldn't help but get a visual image of CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER when the convoy gets ambushed in that little side street.

Damn! and I thought retirement would be fun. Ok a little update on the embassy building:
Several people have requested that they might finish the embassy for me, but as it is a project I began I have decided to finish it myself.
After working with WrpTool for a few weeks and able to place large parts of buildings easily on an island, the embassy is looking at a new lease of life.
As it is an ongoing project and still has a way to go I will be working on this project and hopefully ::) ::) will be able to get it completed as soon as I can.
Please bear with me on this project as the embassy has about a dozen rooms and will take time to decorate and furnish.
Also the Lincoln limousine (in both normal and stretched versions) will be released around the same time.
I will post some updated pics soon.

Great games never die. I still play Unreal Tournament more than I play it's sequel UT2k3. Why? Because it's a great game! Same thing with Half-Life. I still play that from time to time.
Hence, OFP will never die. It's simply too good of a game.

Certainly - I'm currently working on my own custom island, New Fubaria, and was going to use PhilCommando's "Governors Mansion" as an embassy, but if this is released soon I will use this addon instead. ;)

Sorry to ressurect an old post, but I thought I'd take the time to give an update on this project.
There is still a lot to do, however the good news is that I have been working on what I call DIB, that is Dynamic Interactive Buildings, which incorporate things like breaking glass windows, door that can be shot/blown/opened normally, furniture and other stuff like sittable chairs that can be placed dynamically in the building and be interacted with. E.g. objects that can be destroyed such as bottles etc.

There is a heap off stuff planned such as placeable objects etc.

Not really. I just sketched it out as a building originally for Trainz over two years ago.. Never made it to trains and was in OFP on my comp un textured. Now I've added a lot of DIB functions to it.

Actually there is no significant lag even with the emabassy and its full contingent of 400+ breakable panes of glass.
The M16 and M60 dont slow the game either. The scripts for both dont kcik in until the player is right beside them, and if a player for example has a M16 already then the M16 scripts will only ask if the player wishes to place the weapon on the rack, same with the M60 rack. Only the 0 LOD has high detail weapons placed.
Regardless of how many people are playing the game the idea is to represent an armoury that would exist if there were 200+ people work at the embassy :)
The racks use a random number of weapons added at runtime, so at any given time not all racks would be fully stocked.
The M16 and M60 racks are modelled from actual racks that are/were available for those weapons.
Yes there will be a pistol rack, a couple of sniper rifles, a .50 cal and placeable tripod, a case or two of grenades, some packets of demolition C4, a crate with LAW or equivalent, plus M16/grenade launchers. Oh and the 6 racks of 12 M16s will be changed at the moment 3 of those racks are placeholders for other weapon racks.
The roof area of the embassy is designed for snipers ;D

Hmm, how MP compatible is all this stuff..?
With a vehicle respawn script I wrote not long ago (For my squads training island map), everytime the vehicle was destroyed, it made a new one back at the base.. On each computer..
So if 3 people were playing, I got 3 new helis etc..
Is the same thing true with the DIB breaking glass (There is code you can put in to check if it's the server.. But I can't for the life of me remeber it.. But thats not the point :P)
On a lsighty more on topic subject.. When you gonan release the info on the DIB stuff?

Oh, btw/edit, what weapons are they that you'r using? And will the be compatible with the likes of OFP Y2K mod etc? (That replace the BIS models)?
Edit 2 ::) - Isn't there a limit to the ammout of Geo Lods or one of the others (Fire lod posisbly) that you can have? I read somewhere.. How did you get round that? Spliting the embasy up into differeny buildings?
Thats the last edit.. For now :) Just though I'd ask some stuff instead of the "wow that nice" stuff I've said before :P Anyway, thats enough typing for now..

At the moment the development is only being tested on a single machine. MP testing will be closer to release time, which is quite a way off yet.
Weapons will be compatable with the Y2K3 mod and possibly retro OFP.
No problem with geo or any other lod at the moment :) but then its early days ;D

O2 screen shot of the M1911a gun rack.
Cabinet opens and closes, has a random of 12 weapons which can be removed or replaced. Magazines are separate on another rack.

Not quite what I meant :) there are limits in the geo lod which I have overcome by using multiparts for the main buildings and using DIB to place other objects that have their own lods etc.
