Summary
After a harrowing insertion and narrowly won victory at Malden Airbase, your Airborne infantry Company is severely understrength. Your squad has been attached to a Mechanised infantry platoon, to assist in advancing the front line forward into Soviet held Malden.

Mission
When you log into the Admin page, and choose which mission you download, you never think it'll take up literally the next 5.5 hours of your life. Well, now, wasn't I wrong. I'm presenting an absolute jewel.
Where would I start off to describe a mission of this magnitude? Sure, I could break it down into tiny little details- but I'm not going to. No, I'm not. I'm not ruining one of the hundreds of perfect (even first time) things you'll see in this mission. From the mind blowing scripted sequences to the harrowing and action packed fights for your life- you'll become to apparent to the fact that your head is hiding under the computer monitor as if you're dodging bullets and shrapnel!.
It's in the earlier stages of this unbeliveable mission that you're shown that you're definately a small part of something much bigger than the typical one squad army setting. You'll be introduced to your new squad and commander through awesomely acted out voices. You'll start to like some and really not care for others.
I was astonished early on in the mission when the following showed me how things go wrong and how gruesome the mission ahead would be.
The crickets were going at it as we drove down the road to Larche. The sun glistening in all of its glory. An M1A1 Abrams Tank was leading our convoy, and everything went well for a few minutes... Until the tank ran over a mine and was severely damaged. I got out of my M113, as ordered, and me and my squad searched for and marked the mines in the upcoming minefield. As we completed our objectives engineers from the 5th were called in to clear the mines. As one Cpl. was diffusing one he accidently tripped it and pandemonium broke loose as his body was sent flying through the air. The radio channels went crazy and before you know it medics were rushing in to check on the young kid.
"This is Combat Medic Johnson... He's gone... He Didn't Make It. We Have A KIA."
Came over the radio.
We continued with the mission as ordered.
The above is only one of the few moments you'll notice throughout this entire long mission that are pitted just like actual war. This mission turns this game into reality.
Special
There are so many other firsts in OFP in this mission that I'm not even going to cover. Take a look at a few of the pictures in the overview and briefing to see one or two. Play the mission and be amazed by the cinematics and the awesome Intro that has to last more than 10 action-packed minutes.
Overall
(Review Date: Sep 2003) I'm sorry. Shoot me, stab me, make me wear that famous thong that was worn by you know who. This mission deserves a 10. Hands down. Period.

What seperates it from the others (excluding the cinematics) are the small things like shooting a friendly ends this mission and gets you court martialed, fleeing the area of operations ends the mission and counts you as a deserter. Some players playstyle would be hindered by these additions (mine especially) but the object was to keep you in the city to hold it properly.
As a mission, there is not much room for creative strategy and almost feels like a corridored FPS. But as a learning tool, there is good potential. This one will offer atleast 30 minutes to one hour of gameplay in addition to the cinematics.
