Overviews

By the author: The idea is that you in your stationary tank must defend the beach against a large enemy assault and in some missions must do this within a certain amount of time.

The concept might sound a bit limited but to make sure it's fun and interesting I have added lots of things such as scoring (I got 89340 for the whole campaign - it says at the end), repair tank, special units (the AI of quite a few of the units from the original game have been scripted so as to give them a different purpose) and lots of other things, including bonus items.

There are 5 missions of progressive difficulty and the only addon you need to download is BIS' Camel (WarMachine's Mammoth Tank is supplied).

Missions

Throughout all of the missions in this campaign you control an M1A1 Abrams, and most of the time it's you and your tank against hundreds of soldiers, BMP's, T-80's, SpetzNaz's, you name it! Like he says, this is aimed at an arcade-like feel and he accomplishes that easily, with scripting that tells you your score after each mission and overall. This is the Resistance Scoring system - the first time I ever saw this in a non-BIS campaign! Nice!

There are problems though. Like the stealthiness of the SpetzNaz to sneak up on you and blow you to hell with satchels without you even seeing the damn little thing! One other major flaw is the position of your tank. You're the only one who's in it, due to the fact that there are more tanks than men who can handle them (as told by the kick-ass intro). This can leave major problems because your tank turret can only point so far down! It's a hazard to switch to driver mode too, because it seems as if whenever you do that T-80s shoot you right up the ass and you die.

Those are really the only two hindering factors of this campaign. All of it is tons of fun, with an arcade feel. If you're looking for an enjoyable 5 or 6 hours, here you go. (You will be restarting the missions a lot! :D)

Overall

(Review Date: Jun 2003) Charlie Howarth has to be one of the rarest mission designers out there - the only thing he worries about is fun! And boy is this campign just that!

First he has Petrovice Salient, and now this? Wow, wow, wow. He's starting to make a name for himself!
