Summary

Lead a four man team behind enemy lines to assassinate an enemy officer.

Overview

The overview tells you what to expect of the mission. The only problem that I could see was that the picture was a bit pixelated.

Briefing

There's nothing wrong with the briefing. It provides the player with a background of the target and why you are assassinating him. Markers are all properly linked and the objectives are clear and straight to the point.

The Author has used the notes section to provide the player with a little extra intel and there is small selection of equipment to choose from that adds a little extra variety.

Mission

You start the mission on a mountainside and in sight of the target area. Since the officer is being picked up by a helicopter (which you can hear within seconds), its a bit of a mad dash to the target. Should you drive off or destroy the helicopter, the officer and his bodyguard will try and escape with a UAZ, so you still need to act fairly quickly. If you damage the UAZ and helicopter the officer just stands around, which is a bit of a let down. It would be much better if he either put up a fight or made a break for it. Some decently concealed infantry put up a fairly good fight once you have been discovered.
After completing the first objectives you will have to move about a kilometer to the pick up zone and call for extraction.

Unfortunately the mission is let down at this point as it gets far too easy. On the run to the extraction point, the most you will come across is a small squad and they typically won't stand a chance. Often when you make contact they will be trying (badly) to get up the side of a mountain and are completely ineffective. It is worth noting here that you will need to keep an eye on your squad when crossing the mountain as the AI doesn't really do steep hills.

The mission could have been really improved if the enemy put up a more enthusiastic effort to track down and destroy your squad after the attack begins. A helicopter dropping off some infantry near the tops of the mountains and making a search would have fulfilled this nicely.

When you get to the extraction point, you are prompted to radio for a helicopter to pick you up. After a minute or so a MH-6 turns up. The mission ends a few seconds after boarding the helicopter.

Special

The author has included some nice touches in the mission. For example some smoke is popped, just prior to the enemy helicopter's arrival. The helicopter also makes a really low and fast flight and only shows up at the last few seconds before landing.

One of the objectives is to search the officer for documents, when you do this, a photo pops up for a few seconds which is a good touch.

The mission author has made the effort to make two debriefings for a completion. Should you fail to take the documents, you will get a slightly different debriefing.

Custom voices for the radio are absent and would have really improved the immersion.

Overall

A fairly short and mildly challenging mission that will give a reasonable 15 minutes or so of game time.

Whilst some areas appear to be decently done, it almost feels unfinished at other points.
