Review by mathias_eichingerOverviewThe Overview consists of a small picture, showing a forest scene, at night plus one line of text. While you cannot see much in the picture, it somehow conveys a tranquil ambience. IntroAn intro is missing from the whole package. BriefingThe Briefing follows the original OFP one, as there is a tasks section as well as the classic diary. This is a welcome change to the standard military briefings that were introduced with ArmA2. No weapons selection is available, which is standard for regular infantry missions. MissionThis mission follows the original as close as possible, when taking into account that the mission location is not on the beach this time. Old OFP veterans will be delighted to listen to the original soundfiles again and witness the events unfold almost like back then. To the uninitiated, the enemies appear almost out of the black, do their destructive task, and vanish, but this is actually not true. If the player thinks a bit, he will easily find an ideal vantage point from which to remain in control of the situation. From then on, what looks almost impossible at first glance is a rather easy and short mission, but with more enemy units thrown in than in the OFP original. However, the enemy force is never overwhelming, since rescue comes at the right moment. Outro(s)As with the intro, an outro is missing. SpecialThe special nature of this mission lies largely in its nature of being a remake of an original OFP mission, together with the original sounds which means a walk on memory lane for many older followers of BIS' products. For younger players, this is just an ordinary short mission with custom sounds. OverallA short mission with custom sounds that has replayability because it needs a few retries to find the enemy spetsnaz in time, but it is not as gripping as good longer missions with multiple objectives or story twists. |
