WWIII
« on: 06 May 2003, 15:37:02 »
History:

During the Cold War in the mid-1980's, Russian suffering from lack and funds and their military crumbling began to secretly develop ways to cripple the United States on both its military and economic fronts. They developed a computer Virus called "???" which quietly ran through all banks, businesses and military databases waiting for the right time to strike and cripple the US economy and expose military stragities. In the mid-1990's Russia felt the time was right to unleash the "???" Virus which immediately crippled our strategic defenses than then they began to strike American cities and military bases with well planned terrorist attacks that caused mass panic and crippled the local law enforcement and federal agencies. With the US Military now suffering with a large loss on it's Air and Navel capabilities, Russia than began to drive towards the US coast's hopping from one country to the next, slowing working their way to US occupied territory.

With Russia growing closer to US borders and now beginning to occupy Ally countries and the "????" islands, the US began to send its remaining forces to these fronts in hoping to stop cold this aggression by Russia. Because both countries now suffered a great loss for air superiority these battles started to become massive ground battles with heavy tank and troop presence once carried out in WWII. Both countries began to rely on helicopters and ground vehicles to lighten the load of ferrying troops and supplies to the war front. The U.S. knowing that their current military structure relied on a heavy air presence they decided to develop new units that could work in the current and demanding situation. They began to eliminate the massive Airborne and Mechanized Infantry units for more ground troops on the front and also merge in both current Delta and Ranger units to help with this new developed idea.

They would call this project "Operation Phoenix"

The idea was simple… take current Airborne, Light and Mechanized Infantry with leadership and skill from both Delta and Rangers merging them into one group with support from Ground Vehicles, Black Hawks, Little Birds and Ch47's from the 160th to help transport them to and from battle. They needed to be trained to attack as a small but effective force causing the most amount of damage as possible with the least amount of casualties that were being seen on the war torn front.

425th Light Infantry Airborne Regiment, H.Q. - Ft. Benning, GA.

The infantry training was developed like this….

1. All recruits for the US Army would attend a 9-week boot camp that developed their necessary soldering skills and infantry training.
2. Those who were not selected for this new unit would then be shipped out to the front lines and the others would be sent to a secure military training compound that housed the "Phoenix" project.

* On average 2 recruits from each training platoon were selected to attend.

The "Phoenix" recruits that excelled at leadership and weapons training during basic would then be subjected to another 20-weeks of crashed instruction teaching them advanced infantry, weapon and combat effective skills working with minimal amount of gear and supplies and would receive training in the Army's Survival, Air Assault and Airborne School's. The training would be tough and not everyone would pass…. Those who would be subject to fail would be then shipped out to the front to join other units in need of troops.

Story:

War has ripped across three fronts in the last two years…. The project has already come to a close and now 3 Battalion's have been formed….

·1st "Phoenix" Battalion - London, England.
·2nd "Phoenix" Battalion - OFP Island
·3rd "Phoenix" Battalion - Camp Jackson, South Korea

The main focus deals with the brave men of 425th 2nd Battalion, Easy Company

Any ideas you guys can help would be appreciated  ;D

I like the idea, but it would be terribly confusing and difficult to make.

Might as well call it that.  How about someone making Germany or some other country, base the time in the cold war ( say late 70's ).  Russia's masssive oil fields are bombed and destroyed by Arab Terrorists.  Russia can't survive with its military anymore unless they get European countries and some of there oil.  So they attack Germany first to start pushing down.  The U.S. and germany need to defend against this unslaught of tanks, men, and planes + helos.  You're the man leading the defense of one town.  Hold them back, fight to the very last man. . . . .

And then the story goes on from there.  That would be the most realistic story line.  You know, most European countries in my honest thought, would be able to hold back against a Russian invassion.  This being only true only in Modern times.  In the 70's or 60's they might not be able to.

Yeah, and call it Red Storm Rising.  Nice idea, except I think Mr. Clancy would like credit where credit is due.  Neat concept, but not that original considering!  :P
