Greetings, I am going to create a World War 2 based OFP-campaign "Citizen Soldiers".
It will be dedicated to showing the bravery, selflessness, courage and comradeship exhibited by the 'Citizen Soldiers' of all nations engaged in the war. The campaign will include cutscenes, sounds, authentic WWII music and atmoshperic music. The dialogue and grammar will be clean and errorlessness. Proper military ettique will be present. That means no more charges where your CO tells you to "Kick ass" instead of giving you a proper briefing.

I will use the addons released by Invasion 1944, the WWIIEC, the Allies in Arms MOD and the Berlin1945 MOD, with their permission of course. The addons will be recoded, but still present in their initial state. The reason for recoding will be so the addons will merge seamlessly together when in use.

Countries that will be represented at first in the campaign:
United States of America (USA)
Great Britain/The United Kingdom (tell me - which was in use in '40s?)
National Socialist Germany
United Socialist Soviet Republic (USSR)

In the future perhaps these will be available:
Japan
Italy
Poland
and finally, my homeland of Australia (I challenge you, addon makers, to create some AIF - Australian Imperial Force - Infantry).

Of course, all aspects of the campaign will be authentic. It will act as a MOD, with the addons going into a seperate folder from Res. There will be a new shell, and new callsigns (eg. Able, Baker, Charlie, Dog, Easy, Fox).

In 1940 you'd have called the UK "Great Britain and the Commonwealth" probably, when you include Cannada, and the ANZAC's.

G'day, I'm also from Australia, and a member of WWIIEC. I remember some time ago we discussed making AIF but it never really took off as a great idea. Campaigns sounds awesome though!

Here are some ideas i'm throwing around

Citizen Soldiers: Red Star (USSR Campaign)
Citizen Soldiers: Iron Cross (Germans, only one campaign name can have a medal in it though)
Citizen Soldiers: Digger (ANZACs)
Citizen Soldiers: Tommy (British?)

Forces of each nation:
US Infantry
US Airborne
US Rangers
UK Infantry
UK Airborne
German Wehrmacht
German Waffen-SS
German Fallschirmjager
USSR Red Army

These are what are present so far. At a later date I'm hoping to include:

German Gebirgsjager - Mountain Troops
German Volksturm - Militia
Japanese Infantry
Japanese Airborne
Japanese Marines

US Marines
Canadian Infantry (uses same equipment and uniform as UK)
ANZAC Infantry (uses same equipment as Uk but also has Austen SMG and Owen SMG)

Black Magic I hope you'll be releasing those British Infantry and WWII Generic Europe/Holland isles soon ;)

And here's a press release using big words (probably wont get you too thrilled but I just like using big words; I'm going to be a writer when I finish school!)

The Citizen Soldiers campaign will use a narrative element far surpassing that of any modern retail game seen to date. It will be a mixed blend of linear action and a branching mission structure. The dramatic seens within the missions will attempt to invoke the senses, which may make you laugh, cringe and at times weep (well, knowing some of you... not much chance of that). Squad mates and the soldiers of your platoon (and even company) will become your friends. The much-critizised AI of the original Operation Flashpoint will be updated, allowing for a unique touch of comradeship within each mission.

Special effects will be aplenty, with planned fire and smoke scripts, bleeding scripts, tank shock-wave scripts, an AI intersquad support script, the OFPEC support pack (trust me, the A-10 will be replaced so don't worry - think P-51D Mustang, Spitfire MkI and BF-109), the upcoming WWIIEC towing script and Invasion '44 foxholes and MG scripts, the WWIIEC tank armor system and lastly the much-acclaimed Chain of Command system.

A sense of lineararity will be present in each mission but will be kept to a minimum (depending on your position in the Chain of Command). You will make, keep and lose friends, be promoted, earn battlefield commisions and even earn medals for your gallantry in battle (only the higher ranked medals will be scripted, like the MOH, Iron Cross, Victoria Cross and the Russian Hero of the Red Star, the others will be depending on your action. Like if you take out 8 tanks during the franticness of the battle, or if you are wounded - Purple Heart).

Another thought about feature is wether or not to include a wounded script, where if another soldier is wounded heavily in the chest he will bleed until he dies, or if the wound is serious he will be incapacitated for some time. When wounded fatigue will increase at a faster rate and if wounded in the chest and your fatigue is very high you will fall over, incapacitated and unable to move.

Frosty, I'm going over the finishing touches on my Generic Holland island and it should be ready very soon. If you'd like a pre-release to start working with then just send me an email as I'm sure it's possible.

Yes SoldierBoy, that would be very nice *trying to conceal my excitement* ;D ;D ;D

A note on music and cinematics:

I will include a mixture of period music (marching, celebration and humour) and atmospheric music. I have enlisted the help of my friend Legion Strife (currently not present in the OFP scene until now) to create some music.

Here are some songs, Id be happy if you could help me get some more (these are all in OGG, ready for OFP):

Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree
Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company C
Erika
The Fuhrer's Face (this is pretty funny, good propaganda)
Horst Wesel
Irgendwo auf der Welt
In the Mood
J'attendrai
Jeszeze Polska nie zjeneta
Ich hatt'einen Kameraden
Der Königgratzer
Panzerlied
Lilli Marleen
The Siegfried Line
Die Regimentsmusik ist da
Tu es partout
Davon geht die Welt nicht unter
We'll meet again
Die Wacht am Rein
Ich weiß es wird einmal ein Wunder geschehen
Don't let's be beastly to the Germans
I'll Never Smile Again
Luftwaffe marsch
Regimental Pipes
Till we meet again
White Cliffs of Dover

American National Anthem
National Emblem
Stars and Stripes Forever
Marine's Hymn
Anchors Away
Semper Fidelis
+ plenty of Bugle Calls (most important are Revile and Taps)

Thats already around 50 minutes! :o
It's all in the CSA (Citizen Soldiers Addon) pack, accessable like the original BIS music.

Also, does anyone know how Invasion 1944 does that black and white film effect on their screenies. Im hoping to create an overlay I can import into OFP to use in cutscenes (to make them authentic with authentic music! :D)

Well thie British SAS were not fighting in WW2 to my knowledge, just the commandos. And I do not believe the UK Marines fought either. If so, tell me where and I will include them.

well, actually the SAS did fight in WWII thas when they were formed by David Stirleng(sp?) and the marines are the commandoes they are officially known as royal marine commando's.  If your making a campaign on "citizen soldiers" prob the SAS is not really needed...if I understand what ur trying to base ur campaign around is the average soldier....the SAS does not contain the average soldier..you had to volunteer just like you do now and there was a very tough selection..other words professional soldiers fought in the SAS not "citizen soldiers"...

was the SAS a subsection of the Airborne Divisions.
What did it act like - the US Rangers or US Office of Secret Services?

Btw "The Fuhrer's Face" is actually out of a Disney cartoon with Donald Duck, Donald Duck in Nutziland (Nazi)
You can go here to find out more about it

You can even download the cartoon!

the "Air" part of the designation was only in there to fool the Germans to start with, the original 100 man SAS unit was called ‘L detachment' Special Air Service Brigade to make it sound like a large, airborne formation, when in reality it was supposed to be a set of small, highly mobile teams who were to raid supply lines and destroy enemy material depots in the western desert. The were teamed with a long range recce unit called the LRDG, and soon came to specialise in raiding enemy airfields (it is claimed that the SAS put more enemy aircraft out of action than the RAF destroying nearly 400 aeroplanes in Africa). After Africa the SAS was expanded and continued to operate behind enemy lines in Sicily, Italy, France and Norway by the end of the war there were 5 SAS Regiments, 2 went to the French Army (as the 2e and 3e Régiment Chasseur Parachutistes) and 1 to the Belgian (1st Battalion Belgian Para Commandos). The two British Regiments were disbanded, only to be resurected as 21 (Artists) and 22 SAS During the war in Malaya.

Well when the campaign progresses and I include the british I may have to have the option to enlist as Infantry, Airborne and Marines. If you are performing well in the training before one of the major battles, you may get promoted to Commandos or SAS (that is what will happens in the US campaigns: Do well in the Army and you are selected for Rangers or OCS, do well in USMC and you will be promoted to Raiders.

That is one of the key features of the campaign; it will track your progress so it doesnt just feel like a set series of missions.

In  WW2 the Royal Marines were pretty well all commandos. unless you want to do missions based on shipboard security etc. we don't really have an equivlent to the US Marines Rifle Battalions...
