Why must we use the M16 sight?
« on: 24 Aug 2002, 20:47:33 »
I believe the reason is no one has made any new sights. Well I've been working on a M1 Garand sight, and (seeing as I've never looked down the barrel of a real M1 Garand) I'd like your opinions on it.

The WW2 team has no intention of sticking with OFP sights, This is just because we have not got round to it yet, Much like blood textures and O2 Weapons, its just a matter of time, however that helps dude thanks :D

Well, the answer to that is that WW2 team is way busy with a ton of other stuff.

i can help u design a sight for the garand

i collect vintage firearms and go shooting quite a bit, it's a small pinhole sized ring that sits on a little wheel u adjust for range. the foresight is a 3 prong type deal, the middle stands straight up, and the 2 side ones stick out towards their respective sides ;D

Yes looks great...except I've never looked through a M1 sight.

This weapon was also used in 'Nam and that's what I'm with so I'm hoping to see it soon.

Great work!

I had someone who owns an M1 Garand tell me it was "pretty damn good", I am however going to make some minor adjustments.

What looks weird about Oskar?

I don't think it was used in 'Nam, the US had already developed the "ultimate Garand" AKA the M14 (much improved M1, En bloc clip replaced by Box mag, Full auto provision etc.), some people get confused, as the civvie version of the M14 is known as the M1A, and is manufactured under liscence at Springfield Arms.

Hope this cleared up the confusion a bit. ;D

The m1 garand was used by arvn, nung, etc. You can be shure the vc also used it. The US did'nt give its allied the new weapons, until late in the war. The Bar, m1919a6, m2 car, m1 car, greasgun and thompson were hence present in great numbers during the war in vietnam.

Hope this claryfies a little. :)

I have received praise from the almighty Oskar, Lord of the pre-Oxygen M1 Carbine.

 ;D

Thanks a lot, and I really do love your Carbine.

In Nam' the US used the M16A2. The Korean war was the last big war that the M1 was issued.

I'm pretty sure the US used the M16-A1 in NAM, 20 round mag, full-auto or single shot.  And you gotta figure that somewhere over the course of the war an M1 Garand showed up.  I'll bet they had a lot left over.  However I would assume it was no ones weapon of choice.
