How to disable BIS default tank explosion effects?
« on: 11 Sep 2010, 11:04:52 »
I know this is pretty much abandoned game, but here goes anyways:

What I want is to remove the explosion sound and the explosion particle effects as well as the ensuing fire etc particles from tanks that get destroyed..
I have been able to get some of the particles removed with editing CfgDestructionEffects but some are still left and I have no idea where they're coming from, scanned all BIS configs through million times now.

Also I don't seem to be able to find anything related to the explosion sound nor how to remove it.

Have you tried it when not carrying any combustible material - fuel and/or ammo.

Wouldn't it come from the DTA config? There is a "DestructedEngineSmoke" section and each destroyed object has a listing for destroyedsmoke and destroyedlight with an intensity and interval setting that a destroyed vehicle refers to.

I've got 'em right where I want 'em - surrounded from the inside!

Sorry, completely forgotten to reply here..

@Denz
Exactly what I've tried to edit before starting this thread.
For some reason it doesn't help, like said in the first post I have been able to eliminate some of the particles but not all of them which baffles me.  :dunno:

@Walter
That seems to work (I thought I already tried this, apparently not ::) ) although I'd prefer for a config based solution because there is always a possibility that a scripted solution gets delayed for some reason or another (removing fuel and ammo with killed event)..
