RAR-to-PBO file question?
« on: 21 Aug 2006, 21:01:17 »
Okay, I'm a new OFP owner. I downloaded a few addons from this and several other sites. Problem is, most of them come in files with '.rar' tags. I understand that only '.pbo' tags work. Now:

1 - What exactly is a '.rar' file?
2 - how do I convert them to '.pbo' files?

Any programs, any tutorials, anything at all would be helpful.

.rar is a packed file, something similar to .zip

So you don't have to convert .rar to .pbo, just unpack the .rar file and you'll get .pbo (and usually some readme.txt and maybe other useful/interesting stuff).

Use google to find a unpacker that can handle .rar files

:edit:
personally i suggest 7zip which can handle .zip .rar and a few other packing formats.

You can get it here
