« on: 23 Aug 2002, 01:28:37 »
well this may have been covered before the "great clensing" but i need to turn streetlamps on and off.  I dont mind using Keg's upgrade but i CTD everytime I try lamp1 switchlight "on".  and no, inflame true only works in the original OFP. ive tried using switchlight in the init field and in a trigger.  Im trying to avoid using the nearest object command also.  anybody know an easy way?

I think you should try using the setpos command... You could take a lamp thats already on put it somewhere then move one that isnt in its place....well depending on what you are trying to do....tell me what you are trying to do and i will help.

Welcome to the new forums Guys,

Jakerod, or anyone using the setpos method.. be very careful. Moving existing objects around will muck your map up until you restart OFP. I'd suggest you don't use that method unless you know exactly how to put the object back in the right place (You can't just setpos it back to it's original position).

As for turning on streetlights, you can use the object's ID.

Click on the show ID's button, and zoom in on the map until all these numbers start appearing. Find your streetlamp, and take down it's object ID. Then you can use the line:

(object ID) switchlight "on"

To turn your streetlight on

thanx for the speedy reply suicide  =]   unfortunately it is not working correctly.  Im using it in a trigger.  there is the exact activation line for my trigger: (object 154) switchlight "on"   Id really like to know how to turn a light from keg's upgrade on/off b/c i will be making a large base that needs some lighting.  I suppose I could use the nearest object thing but it really can play havok in a complicated mission.

Oh it works allright  8)

Now, I dunno about those streetlamps - I use an older addon which derives from
the infamous campfire object, thus it needs that INIT spell
(along with a dark nite, off course )  ::)

inflame true dont work on anything but fires in RES but i guess that old streetlamps add-on will do the trick.  I'll give it a try but i would still like to light a bridge from kegs upgrade.
