DTools v0.1
« on: 09 Aug 2005, 22:41:22 »
I wanted to create a central resource for all the features that can be created to help a player. Instead of simply adding copious actions, I decided to put them all in a dialog. One thing led to another, and this is the result.

Flashpoint v1.96 is required to run the sample mission, as well as General Barron's Editor Update.

i'm looking for comments on how to improve the suite, as in stuff to add, ways of streamlining scripts (although it's all fairly clean). cosmetic suggestions aren't really required as i'll be doing some tarting up anyways.

some screenies, because they're bonny -

Hmm... I had absolutely no idea what this is supposed to do, so I just tried it out. I must say... I still have no idea what this is supposed to be for :P. But it was a lot of fun anyway, and I had a good laugh :D.

Here goes some issues I ran into:

*If you shift-click on "preview" (which brings up the briefing screen), then the password dialog is displayed over the briefing. You should allow a small delay before starting the dialog to prevent this.

*I can't see anything thru the Satcomm

*Ammocrates have nothing in them (use 'createvehicle' not 'camcreate')

*'Extras' doesn't seem to do anything (?)

*I got an error: something like "no entry Heat120_mag"

hmmm. i noticed the password dialog thing too. i shall fix that.  :-[

can't see anything through the satcomm? are you certain? is it black? or is the fog maybe getting in the way? try the night vision. try putting a marker on the map over the enemy camp and try the satcomm. screenshot?

ammocrates do indeed have something in them, and they are indeed createvehicle'd ;) just takes a moment to get access to it all. similarly, vehicles spawned take a moment to register the fact they exist.

the 'extras' are accessed by scrolling through your weapons, using spacebar. i think the machine gun is in the action menu though...

not sure what's happening with the 'heat120_mags' - although i have an inkling. thanks for the heads up.

and the purpose of all this? fun is indeed the main factor. i also wanted something which could be dropped into any mission with relative ease, to enable the player to explore it with a more 'carefree' attitude ;)

thanks for testing  8)

version 0.2 up and running.

fixes -

shift-click preview or pbo now shows briefing.
'heat120mag' bug fixed.
transporter flashes are now appropriate according to vehicles.
jedi mind trick applies to all squad instead of just player.
satcomm has artillery function.
satcomm image is now centered within the viewfinder (rather than the screen) at all zoom levels.
two satcomm versions depending on time of day.

EDIT - machine gunners added to squad selection

comments welcome.

Ok, I had a shottie with your first version.

It was a lot of fun, being able to 'cheat' like that.
Teleporting into the enemy camp and stealing their flag was so easy.
I even stopped there for a bit to wipe out a patrol before zapping off back to base.

I'll try out the newer version next.

EDIT:   I get an error when using the artillery function from the dialog.

Error is:

'satcom_target = 165/sliderposition 408|#|': Error Zero Divisor

hmm, still some bugs to iron out, and some are looking more wrinkly than others. i had a problem with recreating teams when you weren't the leader of your original group. that seems a 'feature' of ofp. there's also an occasional error from the equipment script. trying to lock it down.
