where'd everybody go?
« on: 20 Sep 2004, 20:37:23 »
i'm sorry this is off subject but i've been out of the country for 2 years and i can't seem to find anyone playing opf cold war crisis, on any of the dedicated servers thru gamespy.  i've checked all seeing eye but have only found 1 other, and that's always empty, too.

have u guys moved onto one of the expansion packs?  if so, i'll buy it in a heartbeat just so i can play the best multiplayer game i know.

there just doesn't seem to be the interest there was 2 years ago.  although there's usually 50 or 60 people in "everon" (the create own game room in gamespy) trying to get into a decent game is an exercise in frustration.  besides, all the games there run no more than 8 or 10 players so there's hardly any large maps and big fights.  if i want cqb, i'd goto rainbow 6 or something.

please tell me there's a place where people are still playing this game in large numbers and joining big brawls in a dedicated server.

People play resistance. People love resistance. People like the OFPEC mods will lock this topic 'cause it's off topic. People like me would like to congratulate you back.

I don't think there's ANY servers running cold war crisis anymore. Resistance is just so much better and basically all the new addons need it.
Las time I counted GaySpy found 146 server so..

I think Resistance costs about 15€ and GOTY edition maybe 20€. And yes, you should get it in a heartbeat   ;D

However, I haven't played on any dedicated server for a long time now. I've got a butt-feeling that there aren't any of these good old public 50 player matches going on, but I know there are still a good number of active players and servers.
Not all is lost.

What Armsty said.

Get Resy or GOTY.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

I think we are gonna see more ppl asking this, ofp has been re-released in a budget box, but ofcourse codemasters didn't feel like adding resistance. :(
Get those missions out there you morons!

Well I agree on getting 1.96, you NEED it. ;)

As for gamespy, its  crap now. I remember in like this last Feburary, I was one active guy , (not sure of time).
But then I got out of it and GS lost everyone. Tops of less than 5 usually are there for res. Sad really, but reg OFP multi is still going on dedicated servers. I think.... :P

Hmm, PC Gamer have released the GOTY edition (CWC, Red Hammer, Resistance) for £9  :o (Which is annoying coz I bought it for about £20.. But it's okay because mine is in a cooler box :P)

You sure? I bought that one first (cuase it was budget) but it was only CWC. So, I sold it and bought the GOTY edition.

 ;D ;D ;D ROFLMAO - now, THAT's some funny sh*t there!

I bought ofp & redhammer 3 times because I was afraid of
damaging the disc (my son once broke a cold war disc)  ::) ;D

Then I got GOTY when it came, and yes - its a neat box to own 8) ( ::) )

LOL ;D

Now that we can play without actually having the disc in the drive, what's left to burn cash for ??? :-X ;D

(*thinking: Red Light District in Amsterdam, perhaps* :-* :) )

Yeah, what's with that anyway? With CWC I kept having to put the disc in to play. But when I got GOTY, I never need to put the disc in!??!  ???

I good thing though :)

Well, I don't know about GOTY, but the 1.96 patch removed the cd check from ofp.
