Is it possible to cause an FIA 5 ton truck to be impossible for the russians to identify as an enemy vehicle?  I want one in a mission I'm making but the choppers patroling 2 miles away keep straying from their waypoints to kill the truck every time I use it.

You can make "setcaptive" equal true to make the East think it has been "captured" and if it needs to be destroyed later just set "setcaptive" to false. Check the ComRef for syntax for proper use.

Or just make Resistance friendly to the Russians.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

I remember having used setcaptive for a vehicle in one of
my missions and it works.

Best you could do is:

vehicle name_of_the_driver setCaptive true

This would make the truck look friendly to east, but not the
driver himself. Once the driver leaves the truck, east would
start firing onto him.
