Vehicles Needed
« on: 25 Jun 2003, 00:29:51 »
Here are a few vehicles that I think need to be made, if anyone has any more good ideas or know of someone that has produced it let me know.

1) AC-130 Spectre Gunship, a C-130 with dual 40mm and a 105mm howitzer
2) RSOV, basically a landrover 110 with a 50 cal or MK 19
3) M1064 Mortar Gun track, basically a M113 with a 120mm mortar
4) Open bed Ural with Zu-23
5) ATV, used a lot now because they can evac wounded and resupply
6) US Aircraft Carrier
7) LCAC, Hovercraft that can transport even an M1 tank
8) LMTV, current day US army truck
9) M901 ITV, basically a M113 with a tow missle system
10) Avenger, basically a HMMWV with a stinger missle system
11) HEMTT, large US cargo truck

yeah!!! Looks good!!

One to add: 5T truck with machine gun on the side, like the one used by the USA in the Iraq Freedom war.

Dude thats cool, everyone is always making or reskining tanks or helicopter, but nobody does the combat support vehicles or the combat service support vehicles. I it would be cool to have a HEMMET Fueler (what soldiers call the OSHKOSH, OSHKOSH is just the company that makes them) There are a few more vehicles that could be made to give OFP a more realistic vehicle array in the battlefield. Oh and nice work over at Gulf war crisis.

i would love to see some more island addons, i no people probably dont care, but i'd like an Australia Island, a United States Island and a couple of WW2 in the pacific islands, such as wake island, iwo jima, PNG, Midway etc thnx. I would also like more Aircraft Carriers/Big Battleships.

America and Australia can't be done, there are limits to island size and I thing Nogova (including the sea) is as big a map as you can get.
But otherwise I'd agree with you, more islands would be nice, I suppose we'll just have to wait until people get to grips with Visitor

Well, for one, it combines the speed and manouverability of a fixed wing transport with the ability to hover and insert troops via fastrope, and therefore negates some of the need for both helicopters and fixed-wing transports. It also affords the USMC (since I think they're the only ones who are going to use it) with a platform to parachute out of, since it's a bit dicey taking off a from a carrier in a Hercules (and where would you put the thing when you're not using it?  ???) And a prop setup is the only way to go, as using a Harrier-style thrust-vectoring nozzle system would roast the troops as they came out, what with all the hot air. It also looks really really cool too.

dude build the hemtt so the MLRS...if a good one is ever built....... can have a proper ammo truck
id love to see the crane actually work :D
that MLRS with 120mm mortar is released in some M113 pack but IMHO it blows
it is very hard to aim if not impossible
one other thing ya may wanna think about since it has been in just about every war since wwii the duece 2 1/2 ton truck

Appart from all those things about being able to fly faster then a helicopter, and then hover or land when there is no runway, it just looks cool!!

Is it possible to build true VTOL aircraft in OFP?

I belive that DKM was building one, but they appear to have stopped.
