VISITOR RELEASED!!!
« on: 18 Jun 2003, 22:00:52 »
This is the greatest day of my life *wipes away a tear*.

BIS have released Visitor, the official island-making tool. :-*

Get the tool here:

http://www.flashpoint1985.com/breathe/

There is also some interesting stuff on the official forums about it here.

Goodbye WRPEdit!

How dare they?
They released it while I was at work!

Great news for those of us that have spent the last 6-8 months working on islands in WrpEdit  :P

I hope this doesn't make it possible to make an island in a few days or anything because I predict a great deluge of sub-par islands if this is indeed the case

think of all the crap addons there are.....   and then think of how many more there would be if O2 were easy to use  :-\

But anyways.... thank u BIS, I mean talk about customer service :D... Had it been any other team of game developers I doubt they would have released their own gamedevelopingsoftware ::)... Thanks once more... ;D

They're in the "O" add-on (Res/Addons).

Thanks, I checked that out already, but I don't know where to put the different files, there are texturefiles and p3d files, some are for units and some for buildings. I tryed to just copy the texturefiles to the dta-folder and the p3d-files in dta3d in buldozer... but I got an error stating that Visitor couldn't find certain texture or p3d-files... So I reinstalled everything... Am I mistaken, should I just copy the pbo somewhere instead...

[edit]

And aren't there houses in res that are named dum1, dum2, dum3...etc...
well I couldn't find any of them in the o.pbo...

*wonders :  " a little too technical for that board ?" *

@ Bizon :
You might be having problem with your de-PBO tools. I've read somewhere in the official forums that you shouldn't use de-PBO, but Un-PBO.
Careful, though : use Amalfi's LATEST unPBO, because mine was too old and some files just couldn't be read by Visitor (yes there are several around).
Anyway, the "O" add-on contains several directories : Anim, char, guns, hous, trees, music, etc.
Just put it -unpboed- in your buldozer folder, and target it in your system preferences
(especially for the artificial and natural objects).
That way, when you want to add roads, trees or houses, it'll be clearly indicated in the dialogue box (tree\DD_bush02.p3d). That's it.

Ok, thanks Igor :D ... Btw, I am using Amalfi's latest unPBO... atleast I think so :-\... *goes to check the ed-depot* ...I'm using PBO decryptor by Amalfi version 1.5... Ain't that the newest version out there ::)????

Does anyone here remember reading  (on htis forum)about some typography mapping satelite that  has data for almost every square metre of land on the planet (in 3d)

Some guy gave details about the website and how to access the data free and then use it to make accurate WRP areas of , well wherever you want I guess.

I thought that was a very cool idea. Maybe it would be easier to do this now.

We could actually have accurate scale land areas of famous conflicts.

It was on this forum about--almost a yr ago now methinks.

They had actually gotten it to work too.
