« on: 21 Sep 2002, 22:43:58 »
Hello all,
its been a while since I've looked at this place
I was wondering Is Bibmi's SA-80 still the best one going?
And how are his SAS guys coming along?
there wasn't any info on them at his site?
cheers
chris

download the ofp-fotress bunkerpack 4 they have the best SA-80 I have ever seen. It looks better then bibmi's Sa-80 becuase it was converted with O2 while bobmi had to convert the p3d file.

Well, indeed the OFP-Frotress SA80 is probably best one available at the moment.
However it's a way too big and some resizing work would be good.
I remember that i saw a post by bimbi showing his SA80 model (not in game), which looked very, very good, but it was in the previous OFPEC forum.

And, hell no! We don't need no jamming script! Imagine your're using a brand new L85A1 upgraded by HK ;)

Try telling that to the lads in 45 Cdo RM who's had nothing but gripes about it in Op Enduring Freedom...  ;D

actually the reason they had so many stoppages was because they were cleaning it the way the old gun had to be cleaned, the new one has a different cleaning process because of the modifications, the guys in afghanistan probably hadnt had time to learn how to do the new one yet...

The firm that carried out the £92 million changes, Heckler & Koch, which is owned by BAE Systems, says that if the maintenance instructions are properly followed, the gun should be among the best in the world. In non-operational conditions in barracks a soldier would be expected to take up to 15 minutes stripping, cleaning and oiling the different parts. In operational conditions maintenance is supposed to take only about a minute.
MoD officials admit that the rifle's reputation has been tarnished by the multitude of problems it has faced over the years and that some elements of the Forces, notably the Royal Marines, still have no confidence in its reliability. One MoD official said that it had become all too easy for a soldier to blame the rifle if anything went wrong.

Wow, nice one  ;D
I guess it won't go with the mod, but do you plan to release it as a separate addon?

They shouldn't had issued the SA80A2 to troops in the field.
The commandoes wouldn't have the time to learn how to clean the new weapon, they would be to busy fighting the enemy.
It should had been issued to troops in UK first for them to learn how to clean the new weapons while they have the time. But instead they had to give them to Royal Marines who were on a major operation at the time.

This must had been really big blow to Heckler and Koch thanks to the MoD.

Well regardless, the SA80, Mk2 or not, is a too sensitive piece of weapon anyhow IMO. Too many bits and fiddlesticks, and an awkward shape/design...

BTW.
Very nice model, hope to see it ingame soon! ;D

Hey, we dont need no jammin SA80 or whatever, us Aussies have the good ol' Aug. Sure it goes off from time to time, sorta like a luger, just make sure noones in the backseat of the truck when transportin them to the front line.

Frosty what do you mean by "goes off from time to time"?
Does the AUG have a safety catch? or are you aussies just plain stupid?

no offence by that but having a weapon that "goes off from time to time" is not a weapon that I would like to use.
