Title: Double-posting question - restrictions
Post by: Inlesco on 07 Aug 2011, 10:05:49
I've got hit by 'double-posting not allowed' rule recently and I don't understand why it is like that.

What to do when you've created a, for example, 1 month old topic about your released mission, the last post post in that thread was yours, an user was replying to someone's else feedback, but he can't dig out his topic and also report that new version appeared. I'm sure if someone would modify main thread, no one will see and even play it, because it will be almost in the bottom. That's really annoying. I would like this problem with double-posting restrictions to be solved for justice and comfort in the future.

I know it's because to avoid spam, but if any commentator would do so, moderators can handle it easily, right?

Rather than constantly tidying up afterwards, I believe Moderators would prefer it to be the other way round. In the rare circumstance that you feel you need to double-post, first contact the Admin (or even just a staff member) from the section involved: Editing, Missions or Addons.

I can't recall if there's a simple solution, but at the very least they could post in the thread enabling you to reply (and then delete their post later).

NB. Obviously, this shouldn't be taken as the final word.

The double-posting feature has a three day limit. If your last post in a thread was over 3 days ago, you will be able to reply to your own post.

3...I don't know what other people may think, but to me it's illogical. 1 is enough, it still can be too much, though. I would say from 1 up to 3 hours would be perfect.

Why 3 days, guys? Is that some kind of outcome from 'shit happenned/happens' on forums moment(s) in the past?

When you edit the last post in the thread the thread gets the "new" stamp on it so it should be quite clear there's something new in it thus there really is no need to be able to bump a thread within hours..

Besides, a few days wait should not be fatal (unless deprived of water during that wait of course)
