Title: Bridges for ArmA2 (Review Please)
Post by: Planck on 01 Aug 2009, 19:41:37
Ported version of my Curved Bridges addon from OFP Res.

Two curved bridge sections and one sloped bridge section (5 degree slope).
These bridge sections are derived from BI's original OFP Resistance bridge section and are compatible with it.

This version for ArmA2 also includes the original Resistance bridge section.

Bridge section models are:

PLK_most_stred10_25.p3d
PLK_most_stred10_50.p3d
PLK_most_stred30.p3d
PLK_most_stred_slope.p3d

Classnames are:

"Land_PLK_most_stred10_25"
"Land_PLK_most_stred10_50"
"Land_PLK_most_stred30"
"Land_PLK_most_stred_slope"

Stringnames are:

STR_BRIDGE_CURVED_S
STR_BRIDGE_CURVED_L
STR_BRIDGE
STR_BRIDGE_SLOPED

Bridge sections collapse into pieces when destroyed.

These models can be used in .wrp files as well as placed in the editor.

Install by placing the PBO in the ArmA2 Addons folder, or a separate generic mod folder, whatever floats your rubber ring.

Updated, same link ...

Get them here (http://www.ofpec.com/addons_depot/the_files/Arma2/addons/PLK_ArmA2_BridgeCurve.rar).

Fixed one or two minor problems and uploaded the changes. (First post)

Any other problems to be reported please report soon, otherwise I will request a review and get this finalised.

I'm so glad my bridges have attracted no adverse comments.

This must mean they are perfect and work without problem.   ::)

In this case can I ask for a review please.

First: You can't introduce objects without pics:

I found a few issues while taking a look at it.

And I would ask some island designer if they can use the bridge since the bridge looks really good :)

No, it must be Land_

A stringtable for 4 objects???

The reason one bridge is called Resistance bridge is because it is the original Resistance Bridge.

I'll look into the curved problem, but these bridges are already in use since ofp days, so not sure what might be wrong there.

Thanks for the testing.   :cool2:

How does AI handle those bridges?
It seems a2 AI does not like a1 roads at all. How about your bridges Planck?

Ok, download file has been updated, get it from the same link in the first post.

Classnames remain as they were, they must begin with Land_, so no change there.
Bridge names are now written to a stringtable as suggested by i0n0s.

The faulty roadway lod for the smallest curved road model has been fixed.
I actually could see nothing wrong with the lod, but it wasn't working, so I rebuilt it and everything seems to be working now.

The bridges work fine when placed on islands too.

@kju

I think the bridges will work as well as the BI original as far as AI is concerned, I haven't done any extensive testing.
They at least worked reasonably in OFP.
I will maybe do some checks later, time allowing.
